Home Workout Equipment for Titos
I miss the gym. I miss their equipment the most. I can no longer do pull ups as I used to. And I have a smaller space at home to do some of the exercises. So I invested on some home equipment so I can do workouts indoor.
Here is my home workout equipment. I also added the workout videos and apps that I follow.
Resistance Bands
Resistance bands are great for strength training. Instead of dumbbells or barbells, resistance bands are easier to carry and store. It can provide the same muscle effort like lifting weights. I also like that the band’s resistance can be easily adjusted by just how tight or loose you anchor the bands.
For workout videos on resistance bands, I follow workouts by James Grange of Bodybuilding.com. His Total-Body Resistance Band HIIT Workout is legit!
I am using the resistance bands by SKLZ. They are more expensive but I find them durable. A poor quality band might break and cause damage. Better be safe and buy a quality resistance band.
The SKLZ resistance band comes in 3 colors which corresponds to its weight equivalent. Yellow (Light) is for 20 – 30 lbs. Red (Medium) for 30 – 40 lbs; and Black (Heavy) for 40 – 50 lbs.
Push Up Board
I can do push ups on any flat surface. No boards needed. But once I tried using a push up board, I find my form to be better and I get to hit the right muscle groups. Push up boards are cheap. There are bigger boards available but I prefer using the smaller design. It makes storage and setup easier. I bought my Push Up Board for only 228 PHP.
For push up workout guides, I am using the 100 Push Up challenge app. I am never near doing 100 push ups without breaks but I try to follow as much as I can.
Hand Grip
Hand strength is often overlooked but a good grip is very important as we age. I noticed dropping things from my hand more often. Or I fumble on small objects after picking them up. I decided to buy a hand grip to give my hands some exercise.
I like this adjustable hand grip that I bought online for 169 PHP only. It has a counter but it came misaligned. Sometimes it doesn’t count. Anyway, the grip works fine and the plastic handles look durable.
Exercise Mat
Some workouts need a mat like HIIT, Yoga and Abs. A good quality mat can help ease the pain points when doing exercises. Planks can hurt the elbows. Yoga can hurt the knees. Sit ups can hurt the back. With a good cushioned mat, the pain is lessened or eliminated.
I got a Manduka eKOlite Yoga Mat. It is 4mm thick and quite heavy to carry. It is made of natural rubber and will smell like rubber for the first few days. It is durable and very comfortable. I can put over a bed sheet and sleep on it. The Manduka eKOlite Yoga Mat is priced at 5,450 PHP. But I waited for a sale to save about a thousand pesos.
For HIIT and Abs workouts, I follow Rowan Row and Fraser Wilson. For Yoga, I like videos from SarahBethYoga and YogawithAdriene.
Jump Ropes
Jump ropes are good for building endurance. It requires some skill but with practice you’ll do good at it. Performing tricks will come later. There are lots of videos in Youtube and Tiktok that you can follow for routines.
For jump ropes, I got the Speed Ropes by SKLZ. It is OK but it still gets tangled and ropes sometimes gets loose. If I have enough budget, I will be trying the weighted ropes from Crossrope.
I am still looking for other equipment that I can use at home. But some needs to be installed or are too big to fit in our place. So far, these equipment enable me to move my body while at home.
